About me:

Started shooting when a friend who worked in the St. Cloud State University photo lab lent me an AE-1 and some TMAX film. But didn't really invest in equipment till I went digital in 2003 (Rebel). Never waste an opportunity to get out and shoot when on a trip, even if it means skipping lunch or dinner.

  • Thanks for your insight into this.  If I knew which software was to blame that would make it easier to fix.  I did ask Google (who own Nik) about this.  They said updates are done automatically in ...
  • Except the last update has caused problems for users of Nik plugins.
  • I re-downloaded the PS CS6 program but still have not installed it as I'm deathly afraid of some license glitch that will leave me in limbo for months. Instead I quit PS after each image and ...
  • Did you have a copy of PS on a disc?  Because I bought PS CS6 via the web at Adobe, and I'm not sure if I can delete it and reinstall?
  • I have an iMac with OS 10.10.3 and the Nik suite which I believe automatically updates itself. Worked fine together for a couple of years and now I'm running into issues with hanging and quitting. ...

I have the same thoughts as you. I have a day time job that supports my 2 expensive passions, cycling and photography. If either of these 2 became my job I think I'd lose the passion.

  • Thanks MysticX, I just got the 16-35 F4 IS (and the 70-200 F4 IS to replace my 70-200 F4).   Time to go shoot!
  • Replied in 16-35 F4.
Looks like the 16-35 F/4 is the answer.  Thanks all for your input. Any of you previously own the 17-40 and care to comment on the differences in IQ?
  • Created discussion thread upgrading the 17-40 L
I've been using the 17-40 for about a decade now and am looking to upgrade it. I like the low weight and range of this lens, but IQ is more important to me now. Looks like my options are: 16-35 F/4 IS
  • Agreed. Turned it off. I wanted a site to showcase my best shots, not every shot, and after some debate chose Flickr. Who uploads every picture they take in the digital age? Nuts.
