On article Medium well done: Two takes on the Pentax 645Z (250 comments in total)

Hi res cameras are always more difficult to use when you come from a lower res camera. The D800/810 had the same issue: Operator handling.
I am in awe with the 645Z. There is just one thing that stops me from getting one, and that's the well discussed sync speed.
I know, it's supposed to be the strobes that freeze the movement, and with static headshots n stuff, this will never be an issue. But it will be an issue at the moment Ambient light starts playing a roll. high speed sync, or even normal speed sync becomes important when ambient light levels are higher than batman's cave. I do location shoots and I'm glad my Nikon can be pushed to 1/320. But outside, using flash, combined with ambient light, 1/125 is simply too low.
Why do people like Peter Hurley, Karl Taylor etc not use this "cheap" camera? well, my guess is sync speed, which for pro's doing strobe stuff is simply a deal breaker. Even if it was 2k US, if it still cannot do sufficiently high sync speed, it wont be used
