Opala's smile

A rather toothy display of love and affection from our dear little foundling Opala. She'd been dumped on the street by her "loving" family when she was just 8 weeks old and by the time we'd met her, she'd been living the hardscrabble life of a wild critter for more than three years. God only knows the full extent of the horrors that she'd experienced during that time....the stories about her from our neighbors were shocking enough, but for some strange reason she never lost her capacity for love and joy.
Now 5 years later she's happy healthy and adoring to the point of annoyance, just like every kitty should be and as you can see from this picture doesn't hesitate to let everyone know it.

After few days of rain, the entire San Francisco Botanical Garden looked pretty sad. I admire the spirit of this flower and it made my day. This particular rare colored flower is called nigra hollyhock.
