Black Phoebe
Taken on: Jan 25, 2013
A nice shot of our resident bug eating bird with an attitude! Usually seen just before dusk, this wee black phoebe was getting a jump on his brethren by staking out his territory in broad daylight...best bug munching spot in the Footies!

Says Phoebe
Taken on: Mar 28, 2012
Lately, I've been seeing all sorts of bird species that I've never seen before, such as this cute lil guy. At first I thought it was a female Black Phoebe...same size, body type and beak, but it turns out that this is a Says Phoebe, a gnat catcher type bird that is quite common here in the Footies.

Waiting for a ride?
Taken on: Jan 27, 2012
Got this cute little guy just after a brisk Saturday morning rain. Hummingbirds are pretty fearless and this wee puffball was no exception...he sat there a good 20 minutes while snapped away, obviously curious about that funny box I was pointing at him.

A LITTLE PHOEBE

One of the many black phoebes in the Footies, Next to crows and sparrows, they're the most commonly seen bird around and thanks to their feisty nature, a delight to watch.

LOOKING FOR BREAKFAST

Caught this cute lil fella hunting up some grub this morning....at first. I thought it was a gnat catcher, but after doing a little bit of research I was able to identify this wee ball of fluff as a black phoebe.

AT POST
Taken on: Aug 21, 2011
Not one of my better ones, but I like it regardless. This is one tough little critter....no matter how many times people lumbered too close, he stood his ground without any fear.

EVENING SUNBATH, SUNLAND PARK CA.
Taken on: Aug 21, 2011
Got this handsome little fella taking his late afternoon repose in Sunland Park. He really had his territory staked out, boy....even when people lumbered by with their dogs, he never turned a feather and remained "at post".
