If the width of the head is about 1/4 of the width of the image, I find the eyelashes a useful indication of lens sharpness at maximum sharpness if the person is not wearing mascara.

Sorry: I meant to say: If the width of a front view of the face is 1/4 the width of a horizontal image, I find the eyelashes a useful indication of lens sharpness at maximum aperture if the woman is not wearing mascara (because it thickens the apparent width of the lashes).
