Ironically this is real world image of the world today. Well tickle me Elmo. Elmo is completely the wrong colour which ever way you look at it. Tee hee

Jeez, they allegedly only targeting compact users with a camera that costs double/triple of a premium compact but produces the same kind of results? Lovely.

Buying an ILC I would want/expect shallow DoF in the above result.

Ok the high-ISO shots of the Nikon are pretty good, but anybody seen what advances have been made in high ISO performance w compact cameras recently? Will a compact user (remember, these are the people they say they are targeting) care more about high-ISO performance than the price-tag?

Are they fixed focus f11? :D
Also TOO blue hues in these pics. Talking of Nikon it is also something strange, being the majority of the pictures taken with their cameras coming from a quite nice warm yellowish world...

Too much DoF...

Agree. It's not UW. You've to multiply focal length AND Depth of Field by 2.7.

Best for macrophotography. Shot with 105mm macro @ f/11 will give you 2.7 : 1 photo with DOF of 11 x 2.7 or about f/29-equivalent DOF !

Or low cost super-telephoto? The AF-S 300 mm f/4.0D-ED will give your bird size bigger than that price-of-leg&arm AF-S 600 mm f/4.0G-ED.

its not ultra wide, its 27mm equivalent to 35mm format

Well, if anyone has ever used a 10mm ultra wide, they would already know that this would have zero bokeh. Simple physics.

Ignoring the picture quality, that's a pretty shoddy Elmo suit. I wouldn't be tempted to tickle him.

this is the sad part - f3.5 and everything is in focus.
Hello NEX!

The fine detail in the fur looks like average P&S quality

Ughhh!!!

DOF no better than a cheap sub $120 P&S.

And color's no better either...

Does anyone else think the reds on Elmo look oversaturated to the point of losing detail?

Elmo, Bert, Ernie, Grouch, and Kermit are all very saturated fellows, don't you think? Kids and early color TV cameras loved the bright tones, even if very flat or glaring.

Red is tough on any sensor, but this is pretty poor.
