Bill at picnic: just for kicks I dusted off my 400D kit and set out to this event to see what kind of images I could squeeze out of my 1st DSLR.
Like usual I covered the picnic with a series of candid's and asked a few in attendance if they minded if I took their photo.
The process is a simple: Ask-snap frame-move on.
I usually chimp after the 1st shot and then show the subject the result. The general rule is <15sec to get one and sometimes two different frames.
I did "cheat" by taping on a 1/4CTO gel to the on board pop-up flash before going to the event.
This is the kind/type of shooting I do >90% of the time. While I might move L-R or F-B slightly I don't ask or direct the subject at all and start-finish is generally <10-15sec.
This was shot with the much poo-pooed EF-S17-85, 400D "beginner Rebel kit", pop up flash and subject with glasses. How did I do?
