Baby Green Lynx Spider
Taken on: Jun 5, 2012
An eensy version of a critter I shot awhile back, a Green Lynx spider setting up shop in the same exact spot I snapped his papa in. Cute lil guy, huh?

..but it sure helps you hide from other critters! An eensy Green Lynx Spider trying to blend in a bit whilst looking for lunch.

HOVER IN BLACK AND YELLOW
Taken on: May 27, 2012
FINALLY! My first somewhat successful bee in hover mode! And here I thought that hummingbirds were hard to catch in mid air...them little feathery bullets are child's play compared to these buzzy little fellas! Granted it's a bit soft but I kinda like that creamy effect..gives it a rather unworldly feel to it, especially with those sumptuous Minolta colors.

An Albino Bee?? Nope! It's a Long Horn!
Taken on: May 18, 2012
I know this is a pretty lousy quality shot, but the fact that this is one pretty unique colored bee kinda outweighs the technical crappiness of the picture. A bee with GREEN EYES? And dig them stripes....think this little fluke of Nature? Nuh-UH! Just found out that this is actually a Long Horned Bee and supposedly pretty common round SoCal. Cool, ain't it?

LADYBUG BOOM BOOM!

Tis Spring and all thoughts turn to the delights of you-know-what! Even sweet, wholesome little critters like ladybugs get bitten by the lovebug and well....let's just say the picture tells the story.

Hibiscus 1
Taken on: Jan 11, 2012
One of my first pics with my new SLT A35. Still working out the "kinks" so to speak...it's quite different to shoot with as opposed to my A230, but I'm sure it won't take me too long to get it right.

Hibiscus B
Taken on: Dec 22, 2011
A shot of a rather overloaded honeybee taking a breather. Blooming flowers are rather scarce during Winter, so when this plucky lil fella hit the jackpot on my neighbor's hedge, he went slightly overboard with the collecting and found that he couldn't get airborne again. Every time he'd try, he'd list about like a helicopter in a windstorm then fall back onto the bloom, losing half his bundle in the process...by the time I'd gotten this shot, he'd already crash landed about 5 times and was pretty much exhausted. He eventually made it though...tough little critters, boy!

bee + spider= dindin
Taken on: Dec 13, 2011
Got this one with my Sigma 70-300 macro....talk about your lucky shots, boy! I'd been taking pictures of the lavender blooms when all of a sudden this guy and his lunch crawled out into view, the last bit of afternoon sun shining right on top of 'em. I'd never seen a spider like that before in my life, so after getting over my initial surprise, I snapped away until there wasn't enough light left to get the shot. Goes to show that if one has a camera one should always have it with them cos you never know when a prime opportunity will arise!
