She was stopped and so was I... Sometimes even the most familiar streets of my neighbourhood will look strange to me... but I must say I do enjoy this refreshed "sense of wonder".:-) Western Street, Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong

I had only a vague idea where I was when I took this shot... When parted with a friend after dinner, I insisted on strolling back to the hotel instead of catching a taxi - I was a little too confident of my sense of direction. Yet pretty soon I realized that the side streets of Shanghai and those in Hong Kong were so unlike: they're really... dark!!! Not a vehicle, not a stir, not a sound except the occasional whispers of passersby. Following the dim light and a few local people, seemingly walking home too, was virtually all I could do. I can never forget that impalpable delight when I finally came to this street corner where I was greeted by this corner store which was still open and the shimmering lights in the distance... It's actually a huge development site behind this wall, where I captured this last year: http://hugopoon.aminus3.com/image/2009-12-12.html I revisited the same spot this time and quite as expected, not a trace of it could be found. Instead, it's this newly painted hoarding wall (with a shining slogan) and a mobile "recycling business" that had caught my eyes... Chung De Road & Jinan Road, Shanghai
