The flares around the headlights didn't happen naturally, but I intended for them to be there, so I faked them using "Lens flare" facility in Photoshop.
Lighting was from two Bowens flash units with GP reflectors, operating across the wet ground at the end of a really long mains extension lead. I was not happy with all the water around the electrics, so was pleased we got finished before the drizzle turned to proper rain.

This shot, and the night shot with flared headlights, were taken only seconds apart. Shutter speed variation is what alters the amount of ambient light coming through. Note: The humble little Dimage 7 camera can synchronise with flash at any speed, right up to its fastest.

This shot done in a studio using a home made tank 4" deep. The reflection of the building is supplied by a giant enlarged print standing behind. The building itself is in the centre of Woking, Surrey, UK. Around the leaf is a distorted view of a statue that is there.(Don't tell anybody, but in real life the building would have been upside down in reflection!!)

After further Photoshop work to produce an 'L' shaped bar. Real bar of 'L' shaped type did not actually exist, but could easily be made to order, if required. Also, footrail brackets changed from polished brass to chromed finish by simple desaturation.

In addition to the overhead and two reflectors, this shot has some additional light in the background from Fresnel type spotlights. The intention was to throw the subjects into higher relief, by providing more depth. The background spots were also filtered (gelled) to intensify the blue.

This book was given to me back in 1964 by Mr Ken James, skilled photographer and nice guy, when we worked together in the studios of Fleet Illustrating, 24 Great Queen Street, London, UK.
Thank you, Ken. As you can see, I have looked after it.

I'm not terribly happy about how whisky appears when marketed in green glass bottles, but this is the client's product, and that's how they like to sell it... :-|
