My very close friend Biff - the bird who ran my patio, sat on my windowsill and listened to me play my tunes, ate my peanuts, almonds, pecans and wild rice... Biff is just about done. He comes by 2-3 times in the past days and just sits there... eats a few rice grains... and now cant see... He seems to remember where he was most welcome. Last spring, I saw a younger Jay chase him off from his mate Betty. He left the yard, then returned every few days ....alone at quiet times to see me and sit and chortle to me... eat a little.. and then move on.. But NOW I see he is through...his eyes have failed, he flys with strain and not too straight... and he waits ...for 5, 10, 15 minutes before taking a bite of rice or pecan... He has come back to hear the old days ...the old sounds. He was about the most closely loved and understood animal I ever knew. What a grand old guy. See ya Biff.
