Saning down the front thread using a block and fine grit sand paper. Aluminum does sand down relatively quickly. Wear breathing protection.

Masking off the glass before sanding down the aluminum front thread - NOT the thread that screws into the lens, but the one that is for stacking filters.- this was done since the thread causes vignetting at wide angles

Hoya 40.5mm circ polarizer from Future Shop Canada. Fits the X10 threads for about 1.5 turns - enough to be firmly in place...However the filter stacking thread does cause vignetting at wide angles...hence the following procedure!
