Mars - A Large Pastel Sketched by Mark Seibold Feb5 2010

During careful and lengthy observation through my 10.1 inch Newtonian telescope, I rendered a large 22" X 30" pastel sketch of Mars showing several features seen on the surface at high magnification. The south polar cap at (inverted in a Newtonain telescope ) and seen at top here, was the obvious feature. I added an artists conception of the surface at bottom showing dust storms that were reported by NASA at the time [although I was not able to observe that feature through the telescope.]
