Does a 5 megapixel camera such as the FZ20 record sufficient image data to consistently (meaning not just particularly good everything-right shots which are easier to enlarge, but most pictures unless there's something actually wrong with them) print out at A4 size with enough detail to be ok to use for instance on such things as (non-"arty" ie. sharply detailed) brochures or book covers which would need a 300dpi file to be sent to the printers?

Reason for asking is getting confused/worried/wibblemoded by the maths and logic of a thread in another forum re the desirability or need of 8 instead of 6 megapixels.

In retrospect, it all seemed so comparatively straightforward in the old days of 35mm. )-:

I have the 4MP FZ-10 and have printed out larger than A4 size prints that would be fine for a magazine

5MP seems fine to me
