Lowepro Rolling Mini Trekker
Mar 2, 2004

I know that the Mini Trekker is very popular around here. According to one eBay dealer, there now seems to be a rolling version, which I have never seen mentioned before.

See http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2990048020&category=50507 which says:

"LOWEPRO MINI TREKKER AW ROLLING BACKPACK NEW
NEW IN STOCK!!! JUST RELEASED -- 2004"

The Rolling Mini Trekker easily converts to a backpack with an ergonomic harness and waist belt tucks neatly away when using the rolling system. The backpack offers several pockets and compartments for storing camera equipment and accessories. It's padded dividers can be reconfigured and customized to handle a variety of camera, lens and accessory combinations and individual pockets provide convenient storage for pens, cell phones, or PDA's.

The Rolling Mini Trekker also includes SlipLock attachment loops for add-on accessories and a tripod holder on the backpack's face for hands-free carrying and balanced weight distribution.

The new Roller Mini Trekker AW is the perfect travel companion for photographers who need to move around quickly without being weighed-down by large, cumbersome cases and gadget bags, said Uwe Mummenhoff, President, Lowepro. Its compact and rugged design, along with its portable flexibility and all-weather cover make it the ideal equipment storage device for photographers on-the-go. Its built in All Weather Cover protects the bag and its contents from damaging moisture, dust, and sand. In addition, the two large laminated pockets in the backpack's interior main compartment provide added space for other, non-photographic essentials.

Size (Exterior): 13.5 (W) x 10 (D) x 18 (H)-inches
Size (Interior): 11.75 (W) x 5.5 (D) x 15.75 (H)-inches
Outer fabric: Water-resistant 600D TXP¿ and 600D TXP ripstop

Apologies if this is old news to some, or has been mentioned before!

Forrest,

Not that I would claim this to be on a par with the quality of the $130 Lowepro, but I purchased a nice backpack that looks to be about the same size, with wheels. retractable handle, and enough pockets that you could smuggle just about anything through Customs because they'd get tired of lookin'. Made of Cordura, and seemingly very well constructed, I got it at Wal Mart for 15 or 20 dollars (I think 15).

It most likely would not keep up with the Lowepro for durability, but for over a hundred dollars less, I can buy quite a few of them.

One thing it doesn't have, that I would love, is the strap for carrying my tripod.
