And yet another continuation on the Niagara Falls Bird Kingdom and the Samyang 135mm F2.0

Ok so its a bat not a bird but EV 3.3 is the lighting, tough for most cameras

Very nice indeed Mike!

Actually the bokeh is in a class of it's own!

Mike, I'll write here for all your recent 135/2 posts.

There are excellent photos. Plenty sharp, no CAs and a buttery shooth bokeh in front and after the focusing areas.

Also, these are the best samples from this lens that I have seen on the web.

Finally, you have a GREAT set of photos from this trip.

Congratulation for all the above and a big thnaks for sharing your work.

Bat shot is excellent considering the low light and a rare shot since they are primarily nocturnal. But maybe living in captivity that changes. Number of years ago I had an attic filled with them. Not good.

Next to the last shot and the subsequent crop is my favorite.

Would love to go to this place but it would be a long 2 -3 day trip in the winter months. My spouse would love it.

Are the shots in this thread and subsequent threads with images from the Niagara Falls Bird Kingdom handheld or did you use a monopod or tripod?

Given they're in a dark environment with no access to daylight and fed likely in the day time during business type hours its not impossible to imagine their sleep cycle changing, however they do seem to spend most of their time upside down at rest and only going to their food as a snack i suppose.

Well its open year round, you'll want a sunny day as a cloudy day like i had makes the already low light worse

All handheld, i braced myself on maybe a couple occasions

Ditto - nice Mike.

Nice shots Mike. The compositions with the children are spot on. What method did you use to focus that beast wide open? I find 135 f/2.8s difficult to manually focus, even in good light.

Thanks Joe

Wow -- love this composition!

Seems to be an excellent lens -- sharp with nice bokeh.

Lemme see... a Bat - which looks quite cute, our very own Nicobar Pigeon and Mandarin ducks are they?

Terrific series Mike.
