PEN F vs E-P5 in overlapsed image
6

The size is set to decorative ring around bayonet on both of the images, E-P5 and the PEN F teaser from Olympus.

If the new PEN F doesn't have the decoration ring around bayonet, then it will be slightly smaller than E-P5. If it has the decorative ring, then PEN F will be slightly taller than E-P5 but otherwise around same size.

And how does E-P5 look next to GX8?

It'd be a tad taller than the EP5 but not as much as the GX8 based on the distance from the lens mount to the top of the camera

What I'm afraid is the thickness of the EVF so the body won't be as slick as the EP5

Still a good size nevertheless, not quite inflated as the GX8

Weight may be increased too due to the additions of dials

Maybe we'll see more photos in a few days

Cheers,

Yes the EVF depth will be one of the features that will change the camera pocket function.

But what if Olympus would have removed the rear display to make space for the excellent EVF? You don't basically need rear display in most cases.

Like where you fit it?

THere is no more pop-up flash, that is already clear. So there is the space. And probably the space that is reason why height has been raised little bit. But still EVF so close to the display can be very tricky thing, unless the screen frames are slimmed down.

Screen can't be moved to the right as there are some of the controls and buttons, unless most of those could be done with touch screen, so on right there is just space for the thumb.

Because looking through the EVF while reviewing images or setting up the camera is so comfortable.

No they haven't cut the rear display nor would it be a good idea. But you're right. Integrating the EVF into the usual camera box (and not putting it in a hump) pose some problems. Panasonic chose to make the display smaller (GM5) or the camera bigger (GX8). Maybe this means a fixed screen to get the maximum size possible.

It is actually comfortable, especially in the sun. You don't raise and lower camera when you can set all via SCP with two dials and shutter release button. Sure you can't get low/high angle shots easily but if the rear display is fixed, I take the EVF alone. And reviewing images via EVF is best way unless you want to show them to others. And again the lighting can be challenge.

I would take this then if there is rear display (and not fixed):
