Voila!

I just modified my self made adapter for ZD714, it works, and works much better!

This is just a horrible tease. A few more images of your ingenious creation would be GREATLY appreciated…

Thank you,

Looks good. Now how did you make this adapter?

Cool. That looks like a nice seal for NDs.

What size is the filter / holder?

I can get away with Cokin P-sized ND filters at 7mm on my Panny 7-14, details here.

This week I also jury-rigged a very compact polariser system that works at 8mm, but haven't posted details of that in these forums yet.

It would be nice if you'd give details of your system, as some of your ideas might be worth incorporating into my setup.

Regards,

S

These can be easily found in bricolage shop at low price. Here in France I got them in LeroyMerlin at less than 10€.

Another thing is to get an origianl ZD714 lens cap, LC-89. I split it in two(I did this two years ago to make the adapater for ZD714) and took the circular part as the framework.

The structure:

That's the front-inner, protector is put inside the framework to fill the gap between the lens hood and the adaptor, the step is there to avoid vignette. Fixation to the rear end of the lens hood is enough.

Outter side, protector is there(2 layers) to seal the space between the holder and the framework. The distance between the front and the protector is measure so that the framework can be use touch the first filter.

The rubber tape is used to fasten all, and make it looking good.

The rear end.

I am considering use this as a base and make a 3d-print adaptor :)

Great job, and clever! Would have never guessed the materials, it looks like a single molded piece.

Cheers,

Rick

p.s. Before long we'll see a 3-D printer take on this, I'll wager.

This looks impressive, not sure why you say a 77mm ring can't be used, I used a 77mm Wide Angle ring.

This is a very simple solutions and it works. You can use two rails, but note if you rotate more than a few degrees the rails are visible in frame, so using three rails will cause a problem. I rail is no issue. The problem is the size of filters 100mm and the minimum distance from the lens allowed by the hood. at that fixed distance and using 100 filters there is a nominal point where rails will be seen.

This is just a Cokin P499 Universal Ring which fits the 7-14 Oly perfectly. The sides have bolts which tighten onto the lens hood to prevent dislodging, and to get a ring on to fit a holder I used a Lee 77mm Wide Angle ring. These are a two part ring screwed together, which when taken apart is exactly the right diameter to fit the coking ring. Araldite glue the two together and you're good to go.

Ingenious! A couple of questions.

1. When secured onto the lens, is it easy to guarantee it is on straight (ie not tilted)

2. is there light leakage from the direction of the camera body?

and ... it is a shame that rotation is limited as I doubt that anyone will make filters of 110mm!
