Here we go again - thanks to all who responded to last week's thread.

As usual NO RESTRICTIONS ! If it's ART to you, let's have a look. Any camera, scanner, whatever - art is in the eye of the beholder so go for it!

Please try to change the title when you post a picture, so we know what people are commenting on.

A "Murmuration oƒ Crows"
In reply to Erik Ohlson, 3 weeks ago

I've lived here at the intersection of several vallies, for about 30 years and two evenings ago I saw more crows that I'd ever seen before at one time - this is just a part of the conglomeration: I actually forgot to take a picture before they began to break up into groups.

I just stood there, gaping as several flocks converged into one huge swirl of screaming crows - it did not sound like CROWS, the multitude of "Caws" blended into a very different sound which as I type this reminds me that a video - with sound - would have been best. I never think of video

There was just at first this strange noise, and then flocks of them joined in a vast swirl, approached pretty close and seemed about to land not far away, but instead broke up again.

This was snapped when they began to split back into individual flocks. Some PP, contrast & the like - no birds added: a few cut off at the edges removed.

My first art shot
In reply to Erik Ohlson, 3 weeks ago

I took this picture of one of my girlfriends on the roof of our apartment building when I was 16. I don't remember taking it, and I have no idea what she was doing in her slip. I'm sure I wasn't thinking about art when I took the picture, but when I came upon the negative so many (so many) years later I thought, Oooh....my first art shot!

Is it *really* art? ;)
In reply to Erik Ohlson, 3 weeks ago

First off thanks Erik for this great thread.

I took these shots in a bay on Lake Erie.  Providing the original and the "art" work.

As always best viewed in Original.

This first one I cropped a lot then upsized.

Original

This one is a bit over the edge.   I took the original, inverted it in PS which resulted in a very ugly orange/yellowish sky so I converted to this.

On River Street
In reply to Jack Brandt217, 3 weeks ago

Just visited Tallinn / Estonia. There was a heavy rain for 4 hours. I walked down the street in the picture, and when cars passed, there came waves rolling onto the pavement, so that the water depth was several centimeters (more than an inch).

Afterwards I came to think about what the name of the street is. The name of the street is Jöe Tänav, translated into English that is River Street

regards

JahnG

PS. As my TZ 25 is with my daughter in central Europe, I "had to" take my old Canon A650 with me on this short trip. Fortunately  the A650 still takes OK pictures, as it was a reasonably advanced "point and shoot" camera when it was introduced, (and also equipped with manual settings.)

Walk on a street that has the name "River Street"

Jack, I really like how the pointed rock with it's streaks, draws the eye up.

And the bird - not - quite- at the point is there to be seen

Thanks, Karen, but I especially thank you for keeping the thread alive while I was gone

The first is quite yummy, but the second is SPECTACULAR ! Looks like the sort of thing I used to get with Ektachrome infrared slide film and have despaired of not be able to do now - and here you have opened the door, I'll have to try it.    --

What an appropriate name for the street!

The lady seems to be wondering if her shoes art tall enough!

I read this as a "Murmuration of Cows," so seeing the crows was a bit of a shock. Good for you for capturing this! I'm always hoping to come across a flock of anything in the air and be able to photograph it. I've tried several times, but they always manage to disburse.

I'm thinking art should either transcend those feelings or intensify them.

Yes, Eriks picture was nice.

To Alisande, here is a flock of the birds that we locally call  "Canada Geese", BUT unfortunately it was too dark, so the picture did not succeed

best regards

It succeeds with me, Jahn, because that is one BIG flock of Canada geese! We have them here too, but I don't think I've ever seen that many at one time. They're interesting as well as beautiful, because they have the power to make us happy at the end of winter and sad at the end of summer.

This is the best I've been able to do with them so far.

Great caption! Looks like you don't have to buy many of your writing instruments.

I like this colorful graphic--and I also have a thing for pens and pencils.
