Reader showcase: Get your best photos on dpreview homepage
1 month ago

Hey all, you may have seen that we're running a series of 'showcase' slideshows featuring the best work from our forum users. Next up, we'd love to feature some of the best photos from the astrophotography forum.

Here's the most recent showcase, to give you some idea of what it looks like:

http://www.dpreview.com/articles/4370591887/readers-showcase-nature-and-wildlife

If you want to be considered, post images in this thread with your name (or the name you want to be credited as), basic information about the image (exposure info, location would be great) and a link to your online portfolio, if you have one. Images with smaller watermarks are fine, but large watermarks tend to be distracting at the size we'll use them.

Thanks, we're looking forward to showcasing your work!

-Allison

Here's mine. Andromeda with 300mm F/4, No tracking. 80 subs of 5 sec. each combined in DSS.

Shows what can be done with modest equipment.

Shot back in June and one of my first attempts with my new ED80 telescope (which i've not had the time or conditions to use much unfortunately). Shot with a Sony nex 6 wirelessly tethered to my iPad and my 3 year old taking the shots while i manually aligned to try and keep it central. Stack of around 18 shots with contrast boosted to try and bring out some of the moons colour. Taken from my nice light polluted back garden in the UK.

Starry Skies over Mount Kilimanjaro
In reply to Allison Johnson, 1 month ago

Got to enjoy some clear and starry skies while trying to climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in January of this year. BTW, I got as high as the last camp at 15k+ ft, but did not make the final climb to the top due to a Cold.

Anyway, On our third night on the mountain,

At 12,776 ft elevation.

After dinner, grabbed the tripod, fisheye lens, remote shutter and Ipod Touch (Timer / tunes)

With bright Jupiter and flipped Orion.
With the Large Magellanic nebulous cloud

Sony Alpha NEX-7 ,Samyang 8mm f3.5 Fisheye
61s f/1.0 iso3200

Defished and NR applied.

What I've seen is that since some time, if you post a picture on Dpreview, it's automatically saved by the site under another name so you cannot withdraw your picture anymore...
