I want this camera for my traveling, no doubt about it!

I simply couldn't resist anymore, the detailed photographs one can make using the SIGMA DP2 Merrill is simply too astounding to ignore!

So I finally bought the camera and now I just have to wait several weeks for it to be delivered to the retailer and then finally a week of shipping to me.

Congratualtions. Keep you DP2s, though. It is a nice camera that is easy to bring along whenever you are around.

I will only be keeping one camera. I do not like to own superfluous possessions. I do not see any reason for why I would ever bring the SIGMA DP2s with me ever again now when I bought a SIGMA DP2 Merrill.

Or does the SIGMA DP2s have any qualities which supersede the SIGMA DP2 Merrill?

The DP2s is cleaner at ISO 50 and 100 than the Merrill is at 100/200.
It has less busy "bokeh".
It is smaller.
The files are smaller and faster to work with.

I kept my DP1 and DP2s when I got the DP1/DP3 Merrill, because I was thinking I might use them now and again. I haven't used them at all and just sold off the DP2s.

I find something like a Sony RX100 a much better companion to a Merrill.

I tis up to you if you want to sell of course I'll be keeping my DP2, DP2s, DP2M even if I have the dp2q

What I enjoy with the dp2 (original) is that it was easy to put in my pocket. So if I just went a bit out it could be with me in case I suddenly saw a motif.

As was mentioned bokeh and portrait is two things that the DP2s is nice for.

Is the SIGMA DP2 Merrill that much larger compared to SIGMA DP2s?

Yes it is 1.5 times bigger.

But Like you, I had the DP2s and the DP2m at one time. I thought that the DP2s was good to keep. But not really.

Try those settings on your DP2m (do not work on the DP3m) :

Go in QS >> color: Neutral >> Size: RAW small.

Go in menu >> Image parameters >> contrast - 0.2 >> Sharpness -0.2 >> Saturation -0.2

Try those setting and you will find again you DP2s

In SPP just play with saturation cursor and the hue correction tool at the bottom to mimic DP2s color mode (or canon or Nikon... all is possible).

How do you get the cyan hue sky of DP2? I have not been able to do that with the Merrill in SPP.

Use the green hue corrector and move color slider. Between the two sliders you can modifies a lot of things, defaults and all.
