Thank you so much for all the information!

I am sure the software is of great use with non-moving macro objects.

As with flies, insects or even plants moving in the wind, I can not imagine trying taking 13 differently focused shots. It would not be feasible somewhere in the open field.

But it was eye-opening what the software was able to do with your frames. Considerable improvement.

Guess, I will have to drug those insects to keep still for a few minutes...

Carizi,

Looks delectable.

It's a delicious dish, David.

If you do not mind my asking, what is the item in the foreground?

David Dollevoet

Not at all, David. These are Palm flower fritters. A very popular dish in central America. And popular here in Los Angeles. I just learned how to make them. However, the batter I made does not contain flour.

First off, nice shot Carizi!  I have to admit that I thought it was fried chicken, so I guess this shows how much I know about cooking.   Anyway it looks delicious!

Wonderful shot, Bruno!!  Beautiful color and great composition.  I don't think I've ever seen a poppy. {{{grinning}}}

Hey Bill, thanks so much for posting the information and the great shots.  Tripod is a must is definitely a must, but I've been doing mine hand held since it's been very windy; the tripod would be a pain for me.

Beautiful image. I have so much trouble getting insects to hold still long enough for me to focus and compose...

I know the flower is the subject, but I also like the staggered buds throughout the image. Nice work.

Trying to get the Raynox 150 to work
In reply to ysal, 4 months ago

It's been real windy (*still*) so trying to get a clear shot is not easy.  One thing I need to figure out is how to get everything in focus.  All hand held.

I appreciate how clean this image is very much. This elevates what is a subject of average interest (to me, no offense) into something better.

Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I'm sure a tripod is a must for this process, but I'm allergic, so I probably won't try it.

I see that these shots are at f6.3. You could go to f8.0 if you wanted a little more of the subject in focus, although the image quality would drop a little. Are you using the smallest 1-area focus box that you can, with the switch on the side set to macro AF?

I'm not a pro. Images I post are unrestricted. Copy, edit, re-post here as part of the tread or elsewhere. C&C always welcome and encouraged - I'm not touchy about the negatives.

Bill,

Thanks for looking and your information.  My identification might be wrong.  Now, this looks to me to be a variant of what I know as "May apples".  Sorry for the confusion.
