Posting early. This will be mt last hosting of this thread until late in July as I have an out-of-town wedding to attend tomorrow and I will be out of the country until late July.

I'm looking forward to more fantastic, artistic shots to see when I get back !!.

Post your "Artistic" shots, no need for realism! Things that have caught your eye, or things you have created.

Please post your "Artistic" shots - any camera, any time, even old film shots / scans.

Please reply to this first post and change the subject line at the top to reflect YOUR picture, so replies will indicate what picture is being commented on, sometimes it gets a bit confusing.

I have no photo to post - simply too much going on in my life just now.

I hope this thread doesn't distract from the FZ 1000 didcussion

Let the games begin!!!

I have posted this before but it sees sufficiently "arty" for this thread.

Swan Creek...
In reply to Erik Ohlson, 3 months ago

Went to the farmers market on Memorial Day, and happen to get this shot looking up Swan Creek which drains into the Maumee River.

There are four shots, the first being the original and then three progressions of Fotosketcher brushstroke treatments.

First step of brushstrokes.

Saved first step, then did the second brushstroke treatment.

Saved the second brushstroke treatment and did the final third brushstroke treatment.

Sort of ugly, but sort of pretty, too.

I really like this creative treatment of the original. It's such an interesting interpretation of the subject.

A Pond -- Artistic Effect
In reply to Erik Ohlson, 3 months ago

Erik,

Thank-you again for your thread.  I would not at all mind this thread distracting some attention from  FZ1000 discussion, so thank-you yet again.  Good luck on your travels.  Perhaps some photos?  I look forward to your return.

My try with FZ200.

David, that is fabulous!!  What program are you using?  I don't think you've ever told me, and if you have I'm using my age as an excuse for not remembering.

Karen,

Quite a nice simplification.  You are doing well with Fotosketcher.  I like summarization of photos; they can be pleasant diversity.  Thanks for your efforts.

Darrell,

As you present its, not ugly -- quite the reverse.  I like your framing as well.  Including the tree on the right provides just the right amount of context.

Very beautiful. Like the other image in this thread, I love the treatment. So peaceful... it could hang on our wall and bring contentment.

Karen,

You are too kind. I used Fotosketcher (water color), PS CS5, and a segmentation simplifier (Buzz Pro 3 from defunct Fo2Pix, unavailable now).  I decided to try Fotosketcher (again) after seeing your results with it, and this is my first satisfying result.  I used the segmentation simplifier to slightly summarize the detail that I added to the Fotosketcher output.  In this case, the segmentation simplifier is optional; I used it because I felt that I added back too much detail.  The trick here is to let Fotosketcher do the simplification and then add detail back in PS. I do not want to bore viewers, so I will send you a private message with the nearly painless recipe.

I'm not a big fan of "artistic effects", but your original shot is pretty and it looks like a lovely place.

David,

It seems to me your technique(s) are improving with every thread.  I noticed here that the highlights seem to glow and really bring the image to life.  Very impressive!

Just kind of a picture thats really bad but I just didn't want to delete it for some reason. Cant even remember where I was or anything about taking it. Its noisy, grainy, blown out moon, etc....
