So what do you all think of the SEL1018 used together with the A7R?

I'm pretty chuffed with the results: https://www.flickr.com/photos/17568505@N00/14187095414

.....although I would prefer a dedicated full frame lens it will keep me going until one becomes availAble. This next image was taken without crop mode at 14mm.

So what are your opinions of this combination?

Nice photos.

Other people have also been using the SEL1018 on full frame with success. For instance, David Kilpatrick (http://www.photoclubalpha.com/2013/12/03/using-the-10-18mm-oss-zoom-on-full-frame). Using the non-crop mode on the A7/r allows for some interesting options, like simulated perspective shift.

I do see a little magenta in the corners of one of your images, but it would be easy to get rid of.

Did you crop at all? Or were these full 36 MP files?

Best wishes,

I am very happy with the 10-18 on my A7r. For me this lens was a surprise performer on the A7r both in FF mode and APS-C.

Here's a great review on the same with video.

I agree and am happy with the 10-18 on A7R as well. There are some LR profiles built for the A7 and A7R if you search for them. Bought mine after seeing Trey's review. I really don't think I need to do anything else for wide angle at this point. I also have a Konica-Minolta 17-35/2.8-3.5 that does a good job stopped down as well but it's a huge lens. Something to consider is that Wide and Ultra Wide Zooms and even Primes are not going to produce perfect corners and you will likely need to crop a little. We will likely go through the all the complaints again with the 16-35 is released.

Is "chuffed" good?

I like your shots - especially the third one.

The real sweet spot for that lens is 14-15mm.

The LR lens profile was written for APS yet it does a pretty good job on full frame. Tweaking the distortion adjustment a tad makes it better.

Nice work. Enjoy!
