For me the 75mm is a lens that turns the phrase "horses for courses" on its head. Normally you have a particular purpose in mind and you choose a particular lens or set of lenses to use to satisfy that purpose. With the 75mm, it's so good that you find yourself just putting it on and then going out and looking for ways to use it.

It's just that special.

I agree, it is not just all those nicely blurred pixels, it really pulls detail ot of the most surprising places and in the most horrendous lighting conditions.

Magnificent animals!

It rained half way during the second day, and the only waterproof tele I had was the 60mm Macro (optimised for something else entirely, of course). It is very good, but nothing seems to touch that 75mm - bring on the  40-15-0mm f/2.8

The IQ shortfall was also affected by the constant drizzle ... the equipment wasn't.

Well designed gear performs better for longer than well marketed gear.

Agreed - I'm in the process of switching back from NEX to m43 and this lens along with the 12-40 pro & the E-M1 have made the process a delight. I've taken to leaving all other lenses behind and going for a walk just to see what I can do with the 75mm - it really is an astounding lens.
