Artistic attempt in birding (CC welcome as usual)

There is a couple of images that came out interesting and unusual after PP. Both are shot today with K-3 and Sigma 500/4.5.

From The Dark Side

Unique.  #1 almost looks sinister.  #2 appears to be a Red Wing Blackbird.

I like them.

Yes, +1 for 1. You really nailed the PP. Composition is first rate too, you couldn't get a beter pose ieven if he was a model listening to you. The eye straight into the camera, excellent.

Really like number 1. The PP and dramatic light work well.

I think I would have brought up the shadow so it's other eye was visible. Just a hint of it in the darkness.  That said I think it's brilliant.

Hi Ben,

I tried. However, lifted shadows (to reveal the right eye) broke the whole sinister drama of the image. It just lost this "dark side" look. I think, that the only one eye adds some dramatic "Star wars Darth Vader" look

Thank you for the comment,

SG

I like both of them for different reasons. Looks like something Art Morris would do.

Yes, it is. I've done another (cooler colors) version of it. And it looks much better.

I like them.

Thanks.

Thank you, guys. Obviously #2 is less powerful image. However, I did a different PP, applying cooler colors and tighter crop. It looks better now.

Thanks again,

SG
