Just received my Otus and made a quick test from my window. This thing is just fantastic.

Agreed. Regrettably the Otus is no option for me. Too expensive. I already could buy a good second hand car for the total price of the equipment I have. With the Otus, I'd be in new car domain.

So where is this Sigma? What are they waiting for?

Nothing MF in 2014 is going to get called 'fantastic' by me!

Different strokes for different folks. For my kind of photography manual focus is an asset.

Optional MF maybe, but never as an 'only option' in this day and age - especially not at that price!

I am a landscape shooter, shooting 100% in manual focus even I am using the AF lenses, and I much more prefer a real MF lens than a AF lens with a switch, that's why I kept all my old Nikon MF AIS and only buy Canon TSE' and Zeiss and Samyang these days for these specific application, to me I am glad Zeiss is still around and keep putting out FANTASTIC lenses such as Zeiss 15, 21, 100, 135..... at a "affordable" price. this particular Zeiss is little out of my 50mm lens price range, I already have a Zeiss 50mm F2 and AIS 50mm F1.2, will definitely check out the new Sigma 50 1.4 Art before I do anything.

That lens is so sharp I wouldn't dare use it handheld. And any imperfection in a photo would be so obviously my own fault. Wow, I sure am lucky I can't afford one....

I'm waiting on the Otus 21mm
In reply to Roberto Smera, 5 months ago

but if Zeiss follows its usual roll-out pattern, I have a long wait. We'll probably see the either 85 or 35 next with 6-12 month gaps in-between each one. I could be drawing Social Security by the time the 21mm is released.
