St. Patrick's Day Parade

This past Saturday I went to a local St. Patrick's Day parade in Hillsboro, Oregon. It started out being a little cloudy, but later during the parade we got a little sunshine.

Photo No. 1 - This is the beginning of the parade.

Photo No. 2 - And close behind the first banner we saw this.

Photo No. 3 - There was a good turnout of people at the parade.

Photo No. 4 - This is the first of a three part series of kids playing with the bubbles at the parade.

Photo No. 5 - The second one....

Photo No. 6 - The third one....

Photo No. 7 - I was lucky to capture this pretty smile.

Photo No. 8 - The parade spectators and participants had lots of green....

Photo No. 9 - And more green....

Photo No. 10 - And another one, showing the bubbles on the right side where the kids were still playing with them.  Once I had to be careful that the bubbles didn't land on the lens.

Wow...it's been a long time since I've seen blue skies and water like that.  Your photos are very nice with good scenery.

Dave, when you were there did you see the replica of John Glenn's Friendship 7?

Thanks!  I hope they aren't over-cooked.  It was a pretty amazing place.

Re: St. Patrick's Day Parade

Hi Digi,

I can see why you like to take people event photos.  The joy and excitement of the kid's faces playing with bubbles is a treat to see.  Those are my favorites in this series.  As always it was enjoyable to view you work.  Thanks for your continuing efforts of this Rebel forum, Mike

Hi Dave,

nice bright colors in these photos.  Are you achieving this with camera settings or in post processing?  These sure brighten up the day here where it's grey and windy.  Thanks for posting these, Mike

For a second I thought you'd located an eagle vacationing in warmer climates with your pic of the Parrot statue.

Hi Digi,

I resized these to 2000 on the wide side and want to know what size you use ?

I also sharpened all of these a little.  Too little, too much ?

I could not resist.  Another eagle shot, of sorts.  VIF      (van in flight).

Thanks for looking, Mike

Nice weather at the weekend so out dog walking take with me the 600d and Sigma 18-200

First time we had let the dogs go into the lake this year so they all went a bit mad. Arthur , the chocolate lag does a belly flop, hence the splash.

Apart from resizing for posting as out of camera, playing around with built in sharpening, set to 4, think its ok or a bit to much ?

St. Patrick's Day Parade - Thanks

Thanks.  Yes, some of my favorite pictures of people are when they are happy and having a good time.

St. Patrick's Day Parade - Thanks

Thanks.  The traffic was light, because the police block off the roads.  So we park the cars as close as we can and walk towards downtown.  It makes it nice that way, even if we have to walk some.

That's a nice closeup.  I like how you framed the cat slightly to the left and showed us the smooth background on the right.
