First Try Moon

Just got my SX 50  and there was just a small sliver of the moon showing here in Cold Kansas City tonight.

Just left the camera on auto and shot.. It will get better. Just love the camera.

Thanks John. I used to take pictures of moon and planets by holding my little FuJi F-30 up to the lens

on my telescope.  This new SX 50 beats my scope for ease to use. I'm 71 and don't get too

excited about too many things, but with this camera, I'm like a kid in a candy store.

Very nice I am sure you will like the camera even more as you become more familiar using it.

I never gave any thought to birding or the use of zoom at the long end. People with their SX50's and the fine pics they post certainly have got my attention. I think it would be great to have a camera like SX50 or the SX700.

Probably have gone through much post processing. Wish you could post the original

The SX50 HS is a delightful camera, I'm the same age.  Let see more of your work with the SX50 HS in the future, Frizzen.  Welcome to the forum.

I tried getting a shot of the moon last night. Would you please post the orginal since file size is probably not over 1 MB so I could compare my shot to yours. I found it hard to keep the moon in focus since so small. I'm wanting 4 phases of the moon, I have the other 3 so I would sure like to get this phase.

I'm also using the SX50 and I really like the 1200 mm.

Welcome Frizzen--I'm also approaching your age. Here are my shots using the full zoom, the 100x option and 200x. Of course the 100x and 200x are digital zooms, but the 100x isn't all that bad. No special post processing, just some sharpening and noise reduction.  Who needs a telescope Moon at 50x - SX50

Moon at 100x - SX50

Moon at 200x - SX50

I can feel your excitement Frizzen, that's how I still feel about my Sx50.

Good moonshot btw.

Rob.

Threed123 really good pix of moon. Have you ever got a pix of moon at this phase of moon. March 3rd, 4th or 5th I find it hard to keep the small bright moon phase hard to keep focused. Nothing like a full moon which is easier to keep focused.

OK, trying to figger out how to operate this Fourm. Sorry for the screw ups. I will try to post two

pictures I took tonight. One as it was shot in the camera and the other one which is the same picture

that I cropped and added some sharpness. So here goes.

As shot by camera SX 50
