>>>Monday Macro/Closeup, March 3, 2014<<<
Mar 3, 2014

Once again, I apologize for not hosting this thread in several weeks.  My work has finally let up this week, so I thought I will pick up where I left off.

Post your macro or closeup shots taken with any camera of your choice.  Please share any interesting stories and camera settings about your shot(s).  Reply to this post, and make sure to change the subject line.

Since macro subjects are limited for those who live in the northern hemisphere, you may want to post shots from this past summer to remind us all that spring and summer is just around the corner!

Widespread cave spider
In reply to ysal, Mar 3, 2014

No spring subject this time!

Metellina merianae is a troglophilic spider common in European subterranean habitats, usually found near the cave entrance, where the food is more abundant.

Male specimen. Photo taken in a cave near Trieste, Italy.

FZ200 + Canon 250D.

Crab Spider - Pink!
In reply to ysal, Mar 3, 2014

This was take with my old FinePix S700. The flower is filipendula rubra, Queen of the Pairie, and, I believe, the spider is a variety of crab spider that changes color according to it's environment.

My preferred version :-)
In reply to ysal, Mar 3, 2014

Yuki, let me play with your image a little bit. Here is my "to taste" version of it... Not just cropped but also fiddled with colour and vibrance wise. Hope you like it...

Beautiful shot. This year I plan to get some butterflies myself. Thanks for starting the thread.

I do not want to play God, but...
In reply to Briansdad1, Mar 3, 2014

I really (and I mean really) do not want to play God or an omniscient one but look what is possible to do with your shot! You got a winner! Just a little bit of cropping, blown highlights rescuing, contrast adding and.....

Nice PP, thanks.  (Hmm, rereading that sentence is sort or . . . weird ) I'll save the redo. Don't know why I never got around to doing myself.

One day they'll announce a Pink Macro Shot challenge here on dPreview and your shot will win it big time...

Bee of some type
In reply to ysal, Mar 3, 2014

I am not sure what kind of south Florida bee this is but it didn't look like a regular honey bee. If anyone knows please chime in. I was not able to get a better picture because it moved around so fast.

Maine shore at my feet
In reply to ysal, Mar 3, 2014

Standing on the shore tyring to get a shot of a duck (it kept diving on me), I pointed my FZ70 and too a close shot of what i was standing on. Might have been more interesting in a wider view.

So nice to see Yuki posting this again!  You have no reason to apologize Yuki!!

From last summers archives.  With the winter we've had I'm a tad worried.
