Rodeo shots

Went to a rodeo last month at an indoor arena so the lighting was tough. The ISO was between 4000 and 6400 an EV usually at -1. I shot in shutter priority and the f-stop was f4. I used A99 and Minolta 200 G. and shot in high speed getting 5 or 6 shots per rider. If it were brighter I would have used the A77 but ISO higher than 800 are not acceptable.

your images are good. I shoot a lot of horse events. I always try to get down to the field level and make my shots tight. When I shoot video I'll have approximately the same angle and positioning as you.

In the case of this event, National Western Stock Show, field level is only for staff photographers. I was in that group 2 years ago and it was not a pleasant experience. Lower rows, starting at about 15 feet are possible but at a cost and you need to get them months in advance.

Very nice shots.  Brings back old memories.  Since I grew up in rural Nebraska, rodeo is part of my heritage.
