#1, for sure, very nice, I don't know about the focus on the other two,, fun to experiment in B&W isn't it, for me so much different than film, where I put Tri-X film knowing I was taking B&W, now, I am lazy, take color and then see what will work in B&W, I need to go out and tell myself, only B&W

gritty beach, great stars, and constellations, so was it hot chocolate, or schnapps after this excursion?

I like it a lot, Andrew.  Have been doing some early morning into-the-sun shooting myself lately.  It pushes the boundaries, and sometimes gives surprising results.

1 and 3 for me.  I think 2 would have worked better had the focus been more on the shadows?  I've tried similar shots, but haven't been happy with the results yet.  Really like the contrast and patterns in #3!

Beautiful shot Andrew. Great composition and light and really nailed the exposure.

Well done.

Lou,

Firstly thanks for your comments. This house is situated in a pioneer village/ museum in South Australia, depicting the way it was for many, back around the early 1900's. Not like today where so many people enjoy the riches of living in much more palatial homes. They certainly did it tough in the "Good Old Days" There's no doubt in my mind it helped build character and discipline something sadly missing in today's society.

Cheers,

John

Magnificent image, Andrew. I love the composition and the ground-level view. Excellent detail throughout. Perfect exposure and great processing. The snow surface in the foreground is beautifully rendered. Nice job!

These are mostly hotels, in Atlanta, Georgia. I took this from my own hotel room, fairly high above the street, a couple of weeks ago.

Brad, that's quite a character, how incredibly nice a man scarred by years of age and culture and so beautifully captured.

there were many ways to go with this image, I decided sepia, increase, decrease shadows, clarity, contrast? I think that I would play around with this for a while.

here is the color version

Andrew, well done with really quite fine texture in the snow and I like the overall composition.

Looks abandoned Thane! The bank is bankrupt ?  However it seems a nice building to live in.

Thanks Lou

Yes no longer a bank and apartments now.  Was the last bank in this town, the other two having closed a while back.  Astute observation Lou.

I also like the color, the monochrome is to put it in an earlier time, both are good for me
