Again I say , Canon has all or at least most of the features anyone would want in a camera . Just not all in the same camera .

and when is Canon going to include sweep panorama for the first time in one of their cameras, like in 20 years?

Panoramas are easy to take without panorama sweep and the quality is better.

How? What do you recommend? (Serious question)

Several of my friends often take panorama-ready tripod based shots on every wilderness trip we take, but they are always busy upon returning home, so nobody ever sees these panoramas, they just sit in the camera.

I have panorama mode in my camera, so I have never tried to stitch one myself.

Hi CAcreeks; Reference this thread and try it

Photoshop Elements works great.

There is also freeware: http://cs.bath.ac.uk/brown/autostitch/autostitch.html

This has a bit more of a learning curve though, and to get really wide panoramas at sea correct (i.e. straight horizon) is something I've only managed in PSE. But for normal landscapes, AutoStitch is fine.

On the EVF...I don't know why people expect the evf to be free. If they added the evf that they are selling for $299 as an external add-on then the camera would be $1000 and then people would really start to complain. Leave it off so that those of us that can't justify spending that kind of money on a camera can afford it.

I agree that was  rational market decision by Canon. The MK2 would be similar to the Olympus PEN cameras. Buy the EVF  only if you want it.

Your math was slightly off though,  $799 + $299 would be $1098.

I was  about to pre-order it without the EVF, because I never used the viewfinder on the original, but I found a refurbished Olympus EM1 online for $1100, couldn't resist since I still have a small camera and can use all my existing Olympus lenses if I want.

Thanks for the leads!

Looks like there is also a stitch panorama GIMP plug-in.
