Believe it or not, this thread has been going for 6 months !

I'm starting it late on Friday because I'll be tied up all day tomorrow pouring wine for the thirsty multitudes at the San Francisco Wine Competition Public Tasting at Fort Mason.

Love to see any San Francisco folks - I'll be at the Lightheart Cellars booth.

I'm still looking forward to seeing your "Artistic" photos - no need for realism! Things that have caught your eye, or things you have created.

Please post your "Artistic" shots - any camera, any time, even old film shots / scans.

Please reply to this first post and change the subject line at the top to reflect YOUR picture, so replies will indicate what picture is being commented on.

Please let people post photos for a day or so before posting comments so the photos get a good display for all to see.

Here's mine:

This is a poster I saw in Visby, Gotland, Sweden back in '08. I couldn't find a source to buy one so I shot it with my FZ18, squared it up with Photoshop Elemnts and had it printed at 12x18 inches - it looks just like the original hanging on the wall.

I think you did a very good job with the poster from Sweden, Erik. It obviously must be quite different there in the summer to the winter, as in Jon’s post above!

Cool Chevy
In reply to Erik Ohlson, Feb 15, 2014

That's a pretty neat poster Erik, I see why you shot it.

Here's something completely different from a few years back. All I know for sure is that this is a Chevy. Maybe someone here can identify the model?

Menu
In reply to Erik Ohlson, Feb 15, 2014

I like the poster Erik, I can see why you framed it.  I got me digging through some holiday photos for this menu cover.  I took a photo of it in a beautiful old cafe in Kyoto.  I wanted to buy the complete menu for a souvenir but they wanted to keep them so I settled for a photo.

You have to stop at every train crossing in Japan, and this dump truck in front of me made me pull out my camera, because I want a dump truck like this!

A commin Finnish animal...
In reply to Trafford, Feb 15, 2014

Hello.

Here is a picture of a beast that once could be found in Finland, BUT during the ice ages

This lovely beast I photografed in the museum of Kuopio, last weekend. (It would be rather interesting, wouldn't it, if we still had these creatures in our forests ....)

regards

That summer shot is so very subtle, nice.

I can see a large print hanging on a wall.

Good "Scribbly-Gum" shot, Ian.

The bugs do te work & the trees get the credit - glad you straightened that out !

Cool, indeed !

Tim, that is a perfect "Poster" shot, so well framed.

Neat old car, too.

Reminds me of some of the "unusual" flavors in Japanese soda vending machines.

Moody photo reflecting - perhaps - your reaction to the selection?

C&C (cash and cheques) always welcome.

Lovely menu, a good poster for your wall.

I do find the little black rectangle near her head disturbing - looks almost like a cell-phone. Incongruous

A somewhat similar thing I shot - also in Kyoto:

My apologies if you have seen it already.

I'd love to know the story behind it.
