Anyone tried shooting the moon with this puppy? That's always my go to subject for sharpness comparisons with tele lenses.

I'm disappointed with the sharpness/price tradeoff in telezooms, and I'm now thinking that some cropping with a sharp 85 mm may be preferable over blurry 200 - 300 mm. And back in the day I loved my 135 mm.

There is no need to use a 1.8 lens wide open in each shot, but when you show 4 shots at f/7.1 to f/13 those shots could have been made with any zoom that can do 85mm.

Have to agree, you either use this for low light shooting or up to f4 that is not a rule though i think at f1.8 its sharp enough, i love shooting at f1.8. I dont care about the extra sharpness gained at f2.8, although that is better to shoot portrets with

true and false..........my 18-200 could never produce good color rendition or pics with out distortion or fringing , ghosting , ect. ect. so i am testing this lens stoped down  to see how it handles non close up dof pics
