I saw the same on this image from SLRclub from the SEL 24-70mm f/4 on the A7. I assumed it was a characteristic of the lens. It's much more worrying if it's the sensor. I wonder whether it's only the A7, or does the A7r also do this.

I have the same problem, A7 + Voigtlander 15mm @f11 Adapter fotodiox

I find the problem especially with artificial lights at night .  During the day, with a direct and strong light from the sun not soo much....

The A7 has the problem, maybe it's the AA filter or lack of microlenses.

Are we about to see a Sony version of Fuji's orbs?

I'll give it a try with my A7r later on. Not noticed it yet (not that I have many night shots though).

It's the sensor - this is well known by now...

This problem has been noticed and documented by several writers. It's the result of the angle of light hitting the sensor toppings. Usually, it's when there's a very bright light and a very small aperture opening.

Probably....

It's possible to find examples from Sony A99 also and many other cameras, but not so evident.

This looks very worrying, especially if it manifests when using dedicated FE lenses. As somebody has already mentioned, perhaps the A7r's microlenses may mitigate this anomaly; can any A7r owners please try to replicate these photo conditions and report back?

Yes, Fuji has solved the problem by changing the sensors, Sony will do that?

How can we ask Sony to fix it?

On the A7 is too obvious and it happens too often.

And 'useless buy lenses of the highest quality and find these problems on the photos.

Thanks. I did a little digging on Flickr, and the A7r seems OK. Here's one (A7r + Zeiss 35mm) that ought to have shown this, but looks very clean.

The a7r goes well the problem is the A7 does not seem right that happens especially with the expensive Zeiss FE lenses
