SX50 Successor Price?

So there are many rumours circulating and it seems incredibly likely that a successor to the SX50 will be released this year.

I am planning to buy it and wondered what price range it's likely to be? How much was the SX50 when it was first released?

At introduction in the summer of 2012 the price was $450 in the USA.  I've seen rumors of an SX60HS; but with no details.  If the SX60HS is similar to the SX50HS in terms of focal length range, a slow lens like the SX50; still 12 MP, but with higher resolution EVF (a tweaked up; but not radically different camera) I'd expect $450-500 at intro.

However, if they go upscale with a faster lens like the Panasonic FZ200, and a much higher resolution EVF and 3" high res LCD the price could be $50-100 higher.  The FZ200 intro'd at $600 and is still over $400, almost 2 years later.  Canon has hinted at a different approach; but no one has more than a guess as to what that means.

The problem with with a more "perfect" long-zoom camera in a higher price range is it will fall out of the bridge camera price point and start competing with their DSLRs (read--lose sales on their zoom lenses). I don't think they want to do that. They will probably dumb-down the camera so it's quality is good, but not great as always. Unfortunately, most companies product lines are determined by marketing and sales people, not design engineers.

You're planning to buy an un-announced camera - no specs known whatsoever - and you want to know what the price of this mystery camera is?

Regardless of what the successor and price will be I'm staying with my SX50.

Now if it is a SX100 I might consider my decision, if the price is $550.00.

If the cam is 60 to 100x and good IQ, and a better viewfinder and speed, a lot of photographers will pay more for quality.

Very true but all I was after was a rough estimate based on the trend of prices of previous versions so I know how much to save.

Hmm. I thought it was $480 at intro. That is what I paid on Amazon on 9/26/12.
