Are these things stackable to get greater dioptor strength?
I am trying to find the right dioptor for my M8.  Bought a +1 , but that is not enough.

I am thinking a +2 is my next try, but I hate the "buy & try" approach if I can avoid it.

You can stack close-up lenses and the strength in diopters approximately adds up, but I don't know if viewfinder correction lenses have the right threads in them to allow you to stack them...

There is a company in South Africa that grinds eyepieces to your prescription.  I don't remember the name of the company, but they are very expensive.

Check this http://www.japanexposures.com/shop/accessories/ms-mag-x1.15-magnifier-for-leica-m.html.  It's a magnifier but has a variable diopter and is available in different magnifications.  I've used this on both my M8 and M9 and found it invaluable.

Good luck!

That's better, but it claims it is not available in US.  Must be a patent infringement.

I think I figured it out...

The M system viewfinder is already biased to -.5 diopter.

I bought a +1 and that was not enough, but my Nikons are adjusted to +1, so I was confused why it did not seem to work.

A +2 might be the ticket as that works out to a +1.5 correction and my near vision has getting a little worse as time goes on.
