Which wide-angle lens for D7100?

Hi!

I consider getting wide-angle lenses for my D7100 (to add to my 35mm f1.8 and 18-200 f3.5-5.6). So far from what I had read, the best all around combination is 10-24? Offers the right range.

I'd like something, which focuses quickly with my camera. And filter mount is a plus to use a protective UV filter.

So far there are two 10-24 lenses I know about:

Nikon 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 (rather expensive)

Tamron 10-24/3.5-4.5 (cheaper, but quality?)

And there are also other candidates to consider:

Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 (both for FF and DX?) (not so sharp as 10-20mm?)

Tokina AT-X 11-16mm f/2.8 (good for low-light!)

Sigma 10-20mm f/4.0-5.6

Tokina 12-24mm f4

Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 (can't use a lens protective filter?)

Any thoughts?

(p.s.: I know there are many threads about it and I read some of them

I have about a dozen f2.8 & f1.8 Nikon lenses and two third party lenses, one of them was my choice for wide angle - The Tokina 11-16mm. Its solid as a rock and great images.

my 11-16 is awesome, especially because i like to shoot in low light. the only drawback is the very limited zoom range.

I have the Sigma 10-20 used on a D90 and D7000.  Its very good.

Just make sure you catch any lady's backside plum in the middle of the frame or she wont speak to you ever again.  Wide by name, wide by result

Another vote for the Tokina Ver. II, FOV is 16-24mm on FF.  Can be used from 15mm of FF.

I have the Nikon 10-24 on my D7000, and it is amazingly sharp.  I have blown up low light images of a sunrise to 24x36, and it still looks sharp.

Add the Samyang 10mm f2.8 that is scheduled to be released next month.  Could be a flop, or the best UMA lens for the APS-C crowd; too early to tell.

Renting the Sigma 8-16 this weekend, partially because I something wider than 17mm & more important to determine how much wide angle that I happy with (vs. overkill).

+1 for the Tokina 11-16.... it's sharp wide open and gets better out to the corners with mild stopping down to about f4. Great for low light settings like museums and other indoor locations. Built like a tank and as long as you have another zoom to cover the 16mm and up range, I'd highly recommend it!

Here's an example at 16mm (11mm was too wide) ...

Used it that way for the D800 till I was able to get the 16-35...did a pretty good job, and I plan on lending it to someone else so they can do a little wide angle work before they decide if they want to go that way for their next lens purchase.
