Wood Stork shot hand held, NEX 7 Kit lens.

A7r, hand held, selective focus. 50 mm,F:2.8 macro

A7r, hand held, 50 mm f:2.8 macro...

IMO hand holding an A7r is not much different than a NEX 7

C & C welcome...

Nestore.

Nice shots and showing good details. I'm sure both cameras are excellent.

Ahhh, we don't have those birds but I have seen a few of them posted. I don't think its a wood stork, pretty sure that's why you folks call an Anhinga ....... something like that. They look close to the Cormorant family.

All the best and nice shots.

Danny.

Thanks Danny,

You're absolutely correct. My mistake.

Here are more photos of this strange bird AKA Snake Bird or Water Turkey.

All taken in the Fort Lauderdale area with the NEX 7 and Kit Lens in November 2013.

Thanks for you comments!

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see flora and fauna from other areas. I find the flower shots need more depth of field... but maybe that's just me.

Thanks again,

Hi Dave,

it seems that the A50 macro on the LA-EA4 adapter ha a much narrower dept of focus.

Look at the EXIF data.

It appears that at like apertures I get a much larger DOF with this lens on the A77 body.

Is it just me?

Best regards

Depth of field is dependent on three factors: aperture, focal length, and subject distance. You control what you can.

If the images look good to your eye... that's really all that matters.

Thank you Dave for the article's link, very instructive...

I understand now the behaviour of the 50 mm macro on the NEX 7 and on the A7r due to the difference in sensors size ergo in magnification and DOF.

get more practice/experimentation to optimize the results from that cam as of now it looks more like snaps that could be taken from any P&S.

LOL, I have not even looked at the instruction manual yet!

I have taken 18 shots (indoors) in total on this camera and only posted in response to someone having problems with camera shake in hand hold mode...

It is minus 8 Celsius in Toronto and I have little interest in going out and shoot landscapes or birds...

I am confused. The kit lens is supoosed to be stabilized and...(more)
In reply to nestore, 10 months ago

for macro shots at 50mm, your shutter speeds were beyond 1/50 and thus even if your macro lens is not stabilized, should be no issue for proper hand holding :-). I am a cheap photobirder and a macro/flower shooter (cheap a-mount and e-mount gears) and thus I look a bit closer on postings in these areas. Very cold last week and still cold this week here in San Jose, California. It kept me indoor as well most of the time.

cheers,

gil

Nice. You have one hell of a kit lens copy on the NEX-7. Mine is nowhere close.

Well done Ernesto

Now we are getting closer to why the aps-c dslr has not been eclipsed by the FF dslr and my comments that I have difficulty in telling the difference between my aps-c and FF dslr images when taken using the same lens.

I think even more so between those on a NEX7 24mp aps-c sensor with focal reducer compared to a A7 24mp FF sensor using a plain adapter.

Looking at prices it does not seem that the NEX7 is yet at fire sale level.

Thanks Tom,

and I add that very generous trade money was offered for the NEX7 or the A77 but opted to keep'em both...

No regrets so far and look forward to get out of the gloomy skies over Toronto and test the A7r with Rollei lenses until 55Z and 24-70Z are available in mid February.

Salutamus nobis

Ernesto
