Sam,

It appears that you define BS as anything that you do not like or agree with. Three or four of us had some suggestions or comments that you did not like and your response was pretty hostile.

Let me try to remove some of the "BS" from this thread. I had suggested that you might want to post images for critique and comments on a different forum. Let me renege on that suggestion. The websites I was thinking of would not appreciate any negative comments falling into the BS category. Nor would the members appreciate your responses.

Now you can push the ignore button if you want but you might want to consider that everyone is not attacking you. If you post an image here or at a camera club or for any review, you might anticipate some comments that you disagree with. If someone has taken the time and effort to make those comments, you don't need to be argumentative. You can always stick with your own prior opinions.

You post this to me, then accuse ME of being hostile?

You make little sense and keep contradicting yourself. Please give up on this, put me on ignore. I'm not sure what your problem is, but I've had it with you.

Got another "guess the photographer" picture?

Anyone posting a "guess the photographer" post will be posting his own photo, LOL!

To me it seems Sam has proven otherwise, check his thread about Saul Leiter's pic.

Well, posting photos that aren't yours is another completely sticky issue in itself unless done by a link only and not hot-linked.

Thank you, Internet policeman, or moderator wannabe. This is almost as relevant as your insistance that what I described as a blizzard may not have actually been deemed an official blizzard by the weather bureau, because the sun was shining. Of course, the photo was taken at night.

This is one of mine, take a few years back. It was a huge blizzard here in NYC.

Sorry but the sun doesn't shine during a blizzard. There is a real definition of a blizzard and not every "blizzard" that news calls one is actually a blizzard. Your photos shows a sun reflection and that can't happen during blizzard conditions which essentially is sustained white-out conditions. So not even your photo could have been taken during a blizzard!

Looney tunes!

Sam, You are obviously very interested and very knowledgeable. It seems a waste that you try to use a gear forum to have a discussion of some aesthetic aspects of photography. There are lots of places where you would find a community of photographers who are likewise knowledgeable and interested. Whether the moderators allow this sort of discussion on a gear forum is really not the issue.

Jim, I've been a member if thus community for 12 years, and have posted on many different topics about gear and about photography. I post on other photography forums as well. I post what I believe to be relevant; some may agree, some may disagree. There seem to be many who were interested in this thread, as there are more than 100 replies. As I said, there were many public and private thanks from those who found the thread relevant and meaningful. You may not care what moderators think, but they do make the rules, and they do not think, like me, that this forum should be limited to discussion of gear only.

There really does not seem to be a lot to be gained from attacking someone who does not like your photo. Nor does there seem to be much reason for this type of discussion on this forum. Post on a different forum where participants are interested and knowledgeable about the type of issues you profess to be important.

As I found your last post quite demeaning and disrespectful, I'd appreciate if you put me on your ignore list. That way you would not have to read my posts since you consider them inappropriate, and I would no longer have to deal with your attitude. Thanks.

For all your views Skanter, you are quite argumentative and opinionated aren't you? ;-0

No, actually I'm not. But I usually don't let people get away with BS, as you may have personally discovered.

Nor do I

Cheers Mike

Yes, my original thread was the Saul Leiter pic. The variety of responses was so interesting and revealing that I decided to extend the experiment with one of my own pics, one that was somewhat abstract and might provide more varied responses - which it did. The idea of these threads were not about CC, but trying to understand the nature of the aesthetics of photography in general.

And you expected everyone to  know your idea, and if they didn't, to attack them.
