HUGE Df Apology!
16

I'm so so so so so so VERY sorry that....

1) Some people don't want a smaller DSLR

2) Some people don't want a lighter DSLR

3) Some people don't want a DSLR with absolutely top level low light shooting ability.

4) Some people don't like manual dials or class looks.

5) Some people can't work with 5.5 FPS.

6) Some people think the 39 point AF module is poor.

7) Some people think that a better viewfinder is of minimal value.

8) Some people don't care about a camera that handles well.

9) Some people don't appreciate a beautiful looking product that is also highly functional.

10) Some people didn't get every feature they wanted. Many of us did!

11) Some people, who bashed this camera childishly prior to trying it, will end up buying or wanting one.

12) Some people can't afford this camera.

13) Some people can't find a Nikon camera that suits them even though many of the great current shooters can.

14) Some people will be annoyed hat I started another Df thread.

15) Some people don't want a lower profile type of camera.

16) Some people don't want smaller files.

17) Some people think Star Wars is better than Star Trek.

So that's my apology. The Df is (for me) the only logical choice for a second body on the market. It ADDS something to me kit (as would a D4). A second D800 or entry level D610 does not.

It's so simple even a child can reason through it. Naturally, some adults just can't accept the facts.

Robert,

That set of criteria may work for you (and that is fine), but it does not apply to everyone (which is what your argument seems to state).

For example, 2 tons is lighter than 3 tons, but does not help if you have a 1 ton pickup. The Df may be lighter, but that may not be light enough for some people's needs (I don't know who those people are, but it is just an example).

One shoe does not fit all.

Furthermore, everyone has a right to their opinion, but no one has a right to expect it to be taken seriously.

ME? Are you kidding? look at the rest of the forum. It's on Nikon bashing troll after another and most without pics or gear profiles for some ODD reason.

Let them cry over what they can't afford.

I agree 100%. But frankly, with no one here doing anything more than reading specs and looking at web nonsense, those negative opinions sure sound like SOUR GRAPES and TROLLING to me.

Many of the haters have no gear files or gallery pics. I think most are obvious tech junkies who know very little about shooting and wanted 95% of a D4 for 1799.00. Not going to happen.

I DO notice that many of the Df SUPPORTERS do have gear profiles, gallery samples and even websites for their work. Hmmmm!

As I said, I agree with your comment. But that is not what is going on in this forum for the most part. The value of me posting counter-threads is debatable of course.

Personally,we know all we can till the reviews

That won't be till the end of the month. So I will just think about my options for a couple of weeks. Still buying, just making sure needs and wants are aligned.

Well, I don't have a gallery (or much of one) because 1/2 my pictures are proprietary to my company and the other half are simply personal pictures that in my opinion pale to work many of the people have.

So, in order to not make them look better I don't have a gallery.

Actually, I think it is good to hear a wide spectrum of opinions.  Some are pretty lame, but it can be considered comic relief, too.

Then again, there is a lot to learn and the more people speak up and debate the better chance we have to learn something new.

I just wish people would not take things so seriously at times.

I think most people are annoyed with DF; because d400 is needed and overdue, but the "iphone of the dslr community" that DF is, was not expected and seems not needed.

1. D800 is the first camera with resolution so high that it simply does not matter.
2. Most people who do not own/shoot d800 misunderstand it. Color depth and accuracy in addition to resolution is what makes d800 great. Resolution alone is over rated.

I think Philip's point is that the Df actually doesn't need that much defense ...

My take is that since this was in Nikon's development pipeline for four years and it is a niche product, Nikon simply waited to get the re-spin of the D600 out of the way, then released the Df (which was always a low priority project) as a means to add a little extra revenue to sagging sales and just get it off the R&D bench.

What's next is anyone's guess, but I suspect that the R&D teams are now focused back on bigger fish.  So, maybe you will see that D400 in the near future.

Paul, if you don't like me or my posts, act like an adult and don't read them. Can YOU control your impulses and go on to the next thread?

I have no idea why you seek out my threads for trolling.

Furthermore, using your son and his learning disability to make an attack on a person you don't know is seriously lacking in class.

Think it over before starting a trolling/flame was.

Glad to see a good number of people here have the humor!

The toughest part is that I REALLY want to pre-order a Df, but I got burned with D800 af issues early on.

I'll wait and also benefit from a better knowledge base on the Df. In the meantime I just ordered a Epson R2000 printer to play with and Santa says Sigma 35 1.4 ART for Xmas. The Sigma will be great on the Df I think.
