Nicely done awaldram, but no Exif, what lens do you use? and that last one seems to have the WB a bit off, i'm sure you have tricky lighting in the pool but just noticing the white cap isn't quite white.

Whoops sorry about exif re-sized at work with a different toll

The first two would be bigma last two da*300 all wide open 1/640 and iso 3200

As to WB the pool had end white sodiums and a glass wall but the slightly off white wb came in the eveing when the street light were shining through the windows @ pool centre .

so, what your saying....
In reply to awaldram, Nov 4, 2013

....is the k3 has improved AF function, not so much in absolute speed, but its locking onto and keeping up with things the K5's previously would struggle, therefore we are getting a lot more sharp keepers and a more reliable system ?

Sounds like Audiobomber is experiencing the same with BIF

More work  picking the keepers,  so much  easier if you can discard a huge number out of the camera

I'm surprised you can use such lenses, must be a bright place, I can't even get by with an F4 lens at an indoor ice hockey rink, it really pushes the ISOs up.

Brighter than normal with 1 wall of glass and a sunny day

I was shooting 1/640 f4-5.6 iso 3200

whereas average is

1/400 f4 iso 1600

and bad

1/180 f2.8 iso 6400

Be interesting how it performs under mixed orange sodium my K5 used to hate that refusing to focus under what I considered workable light ev1-2.

Juts been playing with the k3 in low light it will focus 4sec f2.8 iso3200 !! I can't even see what it focusing on till I take the shot.

That's what I thought too!
Impressive results Andrew. K5ii is OK for my needs AF wise, but it seems that AF is really improoved in K3. Thanks for sharing these samples. They go together with Dale's and Dan's samples too.

Or did you PP them ? If so, what noise reduction did you use.

I usually use neat image pro  but these were knocked out on my work PC so if any it would be noise ninja plugin for after-shot-pro.

but as they were AF examples I didn't take much notice what settings were when processed sorry.

Also they were originally the Jpeg OOC just resized in aftershot so will have Camera Nr applied.

Found theses originals still on the puter

so re-sized only should have exif intact ensured all PP was unselected.

Think I may need to re-asses my lens as well

Was playing what's fastest in moderate low light and to my surprise point to point 5ft -20ft my da*55 was quickest followed by the da* 16-50 !

My quick lens the da* 300 was 3rd and 50-135 4th with my 'controls' da 18-55 (nicked wives off KX) and Sigma 70-300 Apo seriously sluggish.

I suspect it's T-stop related, Besides the Sigma which seems to have a bug every time I went short to long the lens focused shorter - long !

I wonder if a proper lawnmower SR test will come out in the near future....

Interesting comment about the DA* 55mm f/1.4. That is what I have been testing (successfully) in low light conditions (rain at night) around my village.

I need to test my other lenses in low light conditions, otherwise I will have a biased view of the K-3.
