Very, very nice - classic pose, nice low angle, nice details. Were you being brave to let that Siberian off leash long enough to get the shot, or is she well enough trained so he'll stay in one place?

I'm still learning my new NEX 5R having come from a Nikon D80, but here are a couple test shots using the 18-55 kit lens.

Well of course he did! He's a terrier after all!

Very nice photo, handsome dog, well cared for.

Well done! Excellent color and detail. I like the shallow DOF. And of course the dog's super-enthusiastic expression makes these photos.

Yes! Though this guy already has quite a voice, and wails the house down at feeding time! Canon FD 35/2:

Re: Enough Talk About Sony - How about some dog pics?

Thanks!  I appreciate the compliment.  Funny thing those are actually two different dogs.  Oscar is the top pic, and he is pretty much always like that..happiest dog in the world.  The bottom is Gracee and surprisingly enough, they aren't related.

I was struggling for the first few days with the NEX until I realized the presets can be tweaked and that taking control of white balance vs going with auto is a must.  I'm really starting to like the results I'm getting now.  The top photo is a .jpg straight from the camera, something I never was able to do with my D80.

Re: Enough Talk About Sony - How about some dog pics?

This is the best thing i've seen in a while…

I was coming home on the highway the other day, at the end of a wasted day (long story). Stop-and-go traffic just at the beginning of rush hour. Traffic had picked up to about 30 mph at the time when i glanced back in the right lane behind me. I grabbed the camera out of the bag, fumbled at the settings, rolled down the passenger-side window, and just kind of pointed the camera in the right direction as the duo was going by me.

Without looking at the screen or viewfinder, i clicked off about about four shots before they got off at an exit. Since i wasn't looking in the viewfinder (i was driving, after all) and wasn't sure of the exposure settings, i wasn't expecting much; not anything, really. All but one photo either missed completely, or the focus was waaaay off. Somehow, this one was actually usable, after a bit of tweaking in the computer. Whoo hoo!

I just can't stop smiling…

Easy Rider!
