Can I shoot video to SD with LV display off on D800?

I want to shoot a 12 hour time lapse video but only have battery which won't last that long if LV is active.  Is there a way to disable LV during video shooting to an SD card so I doesn't suck the battery down?  I've done some searching but haven't seen an answer.

just tried on my d800; answer is no. turning live view off stops recording, b/c it flips the mirror up. i wonder if screen timeout can be used somehow? So far screen stays on during recording beyond the time it self turns off...

Yeah, didn't realize the difference.  LV can be off for still interval shooting.  When you set up time lapse video, the LCD automatically turns off.  But time lapse video seems to have a 7 hour limit for me I now have to chicken that out.

Doing interval timer shooting does turn the LV screen off.
