What is the most beautiful camera ever made?
1

I'm not talking about functionality, just aesthetic beauty.

I wonder if there should be categories since function controls basic form in many cases.

In the SLR category, I don't think ANY DSLR can stand up in terms of beauty to the old Canon FT-QL or the Olympus OM-1.

Ugliest GOOD camera (for its time)?  Argus C3

IN terms of gem like quality I nominate the LeCoultre Compass camera

Not at all practical, even it its time, but what a beautiful device it is.

Rangefinder: Leica M3

SLR: Nikon FE-2: combines a nearly perfect layout with high performance. And they only cost in the low $200s during their heyday.

The camera that broke the mold in design: Canon T90: way ahead of the curve.

I don't care. As long as the camera takes outstanding pictures it could look like a shoe.

I read that as Batman special several times and I couldn't figure out what it had to do with Batman, lol.

Just a smooth obelisk in black. Space Odyssey, here we go. No buttons, knobs or controls. No funky gold knobs, text, or instructions. No stinky dead animal skins. No ugly attachments.

Here's one of the ugliest cameras ever made for comparison.

And he was right, it was the best looking out of all the cameras ever made. Wonder Woman was a close second.

I like the below, blink to shoot and tracks your eye for focus.

The Leica III is my favorite, close second is the Bronica S line.

I had a Bronica S2A for a while.  We were mismatched from the very start, the conflicting torque from the mirror and that huge focal plane shutter made it a tripod only camera!  And for candids, All I ever got was startled looks from people searching for the second gunman!  I thought the Kowa 6 was prettier though (and quieter!).

I've got to vote for the Minolta SRT-101. It was simple, rugged, reliable, and worked well for me in all sorts of commercial and industrial environments for over 25 years. Minolta offered a great assortment of excellent lenses, too.

For me, Leica M4-P. It and the C-V 40mm f/1.4 are my "dream kit"... or would be, if I were still interested in shooting film.

Ugliest I'd say it's the NEX-derived Hasselblad Lunar, but I've heard from very trustworthy people that it handles like a dream. Perhaps the Zenit 12xp? that thing certainly handled like the clumsy brick it looked like, particularly with its 'kit lens', that attrocity known as the Helios 44-2.
