Canon S120
Jun 15, 2013

Canon S110 is almost 1 year now.

Many other brand releasing good cameras (including the RX100 and maybe RX 200 coming soon). and the competition is harder now.

Canon S110 I think it just a refresh from S100. Not too much different

I hope Canon really working better to release S120

My suggestion for Canon S120:

1. Faster lens: 1.8-2.8

2. Better Battery life. at least 250 or 275

3. Better WiFi Implementation

4. Keep the wide 24mm or maybe 20-22mm

5. Improve the images at high ISO and RAW

just my2c

Ok - to make this easy for Canon .. just give us everything the G1X offers but in the S90/S95/S100/S110 form factor .. including IQ, low light, zoom and all the external buttons and dials.

There .. wasn't that easy?

Thinner & lighter isn't going to happen with the addition of a flip lcd, hot shoe, and better hand grip.

My suggestion for Canon S120:

1. Faster lens: 1.8-2.8

If you want a faster lens (what you want is exactly like the G15) it will need to be the size of the G15 which is much bigger.  You can't have a "larger" image sensor like the 1/1.7" and a fast lens that is 5x zoom.

2. Better Battery life. at least 250 or 275

3. Better WiFi Implementation

4. Keep the wide 24mm or maybe 20-22mm

Sorry but 20mm won't happen and 24mm is even too wide for average users.

5. Improve the images at high ISO and RAW

Shoot RAW and you won't be complaining.

So you want higher end components and features and the price to be lowered.  Are you for real?!  You get what you pay for.  If you want to pay $250 you'll get "less" of a camera.

and keep the good things

I'm just dreamin'...i'm always dreamin'.. searchin'.... never mind. We'll maybe someday canon will. But for the meantime my canon s100 is still ahead of my time and can't muster yet. I i love my camera more than my lost fuji 30fd.

Well - these are pipe dreams - I'd like that too - but the technology to deliver half these things doesn't exist.

You can't get that fast a lens in that small a camera. Same issue with getting wider - it's physically not possible in that frame.

Also - if it was possible to deliver all that - and I was an exec at canon - I probably still wouldn't release it. If a $400 compact had all those dSLR capabilities - it would seriously eat into dSLR sales. They want to encourage people to buy more expensive cameras.

Hahaha.

The ones posting above maybe match to the title

Canon S110 List price $ 399.

I believe the S120 will be cheaper list price, maybe $ 375-399

and some of the features will be implemented.

Let see

Few years back when the maximum zoom for compact is only 4X I suggest to increase the zoom. and many people did not agree and say it is impossible, But now many compact have 5-10X zoom on small body.

8. Better Price

While I'm sure we would all love to save a few bucks, I believe the S-series is already the 2nd lowest (current model) priced camera in its class (after the LX7).  Besides, with Sony and Olympus pricing their cameras ridiculously high, Canon doesn't need to price their S-series any lower.
