Jeff,

I'm not familiar with a Nik filter.  Could you explain what they are?

Sure. Nik has a series of software packages on the market that do a very good job with specific actions, like sharpening, B&W conversions, noise reduction, etc. Google bought them a while back. Here's a link http://www.niksoftware.com/nikcollection/usa/intro.html

The $149 package deal sounds expensive, but it's great compared to where they were pre-Google. They can be used as LR plugins, which is my preferred method.  Some of it duplicates builtin LR functionality, so I tend to use the Nik for special cases.

Snapseed was produced by Nik software.  I'm not sure if to what extent Snapseed actually incorporates the earlier technologies, but am giving them a try based on my experience with Nik. Wish I could say something more concrete about Snapseed, but don't have enough specific experience to offer a useful opinion.

Question for Jeff

Jeff,

I went back and looked at some of your marvelous photos on Flickr.  In looking at the EXIF data, I noticed that your photos show 240 dpi.  I have ProCamera on my iphone and I use it some, but the photos always show 72 dpi.  Is there some setting on the app that allows for 240 dpi.

Hi Jack,

I process in Lightroom, then publish to Flickr. So the 240dpi is set by the LR publish dialog.  I like ProCamera, too.

European mix-tape.

Three very different shots below.  Not necessarily my best, but definitely some of my favourites.
