Praise the Macro Lenses. Post your best macros here.
Jun 5, 2013

The macro lenses are one of my favorite kind of lenses, usually they are better optically than normal lenses and can do macro pictures.

Besides that they are lenses that can bring our imagination when taking pictures of small things, but a good technique is needed and we must know well what we want to do.

If you have good macro pictures and like these lenses please post them here.

(I still don't have a micro 4/3 macro lens but I am thinking on getting one fast)

I use a tele lens with diopter, it actually works quite good.

My all time favorite ...

Also shot with tele zoom ...

But this one was done with 35mm macro lens!

I don't have a prime macro lens - I use close-up lenses on a 45-175 on a G3. Hope that is acceptable.

Don't know about best, but here are a few.

The first five used natural light, the other five used some flash. All are f/22. Eight of the ten used ISO 800.

My best macro shots since last week ...
In reply to Aleo Veuliah, Jun 5, 2013

I've taken so many macro photos this year it would take too long to go through them all looking for my "best" so ... here are my "best" from the past week.

All of these shots were taken at the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park in Malaysia, with an E-P3 camera, M. Zuiko 60mm f2.8 Macro lens and Olympus FL-600R flash.

C+C welcomed

A romanian spider. This pic was taken with the Macro-mode of the 12-50mm OMD-EM5 kitlens, I don't have another macro lens. JPEG, handheld, no flash and heavily cropped. This lens produces quite usable results in my opinion (but I am not that experienced in macro-photography). Check it out in 100% view, if I remember right I didn't use any extra sharpening.

Nuts. Every time I see what the 60mm is capable of, I start pining for this lens! This series of shots is a perfect example...

no flash used
In reply to drpoop, Jun 5, 2013

just ambient light and careful angling of the camera, with  some +/- EV adjustment as needed. Shot in AV mode keeping an eye on shutter speed and dropping DOF by opening the aperture to keep the speed up when possible
