I wasn't able to say no to NX300 :)
Apr 29, 2013

Today I've been offered, by a local shop, a NX300 at 580€ with the 18-55mm kit, and I was not able to say no...

Tomorrow I'll test it a little bit and I'll post my impressions. Till now, I can say that the display is very responsive, more than the two samples I tried in other shops.

Thx!

One odd thing: the burst shooting seems slower than nx200. I mean, same sd class10 card, the nx200 was able to do 8 shoots in a row before slowing sown, while nx300 just 5....how comes?

All the rest is more responsive and fast, even if the processing thing still shows up after a burat if I try to review the pictures.

Another very odd thing: for video I have a selection among 1920/25 and 1920/50....shouldn't it be 30 and 60???

I was going to ask if PAL would be different but it seems I have my answer, thank you

The european/pal models shoot 25/50.

True, I realized this before going to sleep, but I did not post since I already disconnected internet.

You get 30 and 60 by selecting NTSC video mode. I don't know if this differs in playback. Anyway it's nice being able to set it.

No one replying to the slowness in burst mode?

Welcome to the club!

Though I am maybe about to return my second unit for poor touch screen responsiveness... maybe.

Anyway, on burst shooting, yes indeed, I found it to be a pain in the butt on holiday, especially shooting RAW+Super fine!

For me, it's not as bad as the NX1000, but still takes way too long to finish.

This is with Sandisk Extreme 45MB/s SD card.

So many times was trying to capture things on holiday (things that don't hang around long), and was waiting to get control back.

Still much work for Samsung to do in speeding this up. If they can...

Thx.

It's faster than nx200 to cleaar the buffer, but it only takes 5 fast shots in a row, where nx200 could take 8. Do you experience this, as well?

yes, a bit strange as the JPEG is pretty fast. Did sell the NX200 last week so I cannot compare but the NX20 takes 8 in a row before clearing the buffer although it takes time until you can another shot.

Strange enough the slow continuous mode is showing the same behavior

I will have to play with this tonight.

Have not really counted. Are you sure you are using the right burst mode?

I know there is one for high, and one for normal...

yes, its just 5 images at high using RAW with the last one already showing some gap so its 4 highspeed only (if you count them that way). You can take sets of two soon afterwards again, while the buffer clears so from pure handling it is really convenient

Let's hope they can fix it in a fw upgrade, since it's annoying to have such a poor performance in a field where older models, with bigger files, could do better!

I shoot 8 pictures very quick. also buffer quick to finish with new Sandisk UHS card but see no practicality unless shoot 30-50 pictures in 5 seconds. I think low class card enough. practical to buy cheap SDXC 64gb class 10 card than super fast UHS card. space is more important for NX300. file size for srw is 30mb maximum. also needed 2 additional batteries. nx300 eat lots power. but very great professional system. find resolution and color of NX200 not even close. also camera very excellent for lowlight use unlike previous NX cameras. shoot pictures above 800 iso and in lowlight, bring NX300, even higher iso jpegs really good.

Yes, see the same thing.  Wonder if it has to do with RAW compression?

For me this is quite a step backward. Samsung, please take this at least back to how it was with nx200....
